The opening of the ‘Ata Training Center’, which was implemented by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality in a first to strengthen the fire brigade, was held. To the opening; Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer, Republican People’s Party (CHP) Mersin Provincial Chairman Koral Ömür, CHP Youth Branch Deputy Chairman İzzet Kırılmaz, CHP Mersin Provincial Women’s Branch Chairman Gülşah Yıldırım Genç, former CHP Mersin Deputy Cengiz Gökçel, CHP district heads, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality and MESKİ bureaucrats and department heads, representatives of political parties, NGOs and headmen, fearless heroes of the Metropolitan Municipality and many citizens attended.
‘Ata Training Center’, where fire brigade personnel will be trained; It has the feature of being the most modern, technical, well-equipped, well-educated center in Turkey, where people will be better trained for emergencies. In the center; Firefighter personnel are given extensive training to be more prepared for disasters. It is aimed to provide service to all institutions requesting education at the center.
“It means fire department; “It means our life safety”
Speaking at the opening of the center, Mayor Seçer said; “We are mayors properly. Our love is the love of Türkiye, the love of the nation, the love of humanity. “We are here to serve,” he said. Noting that they serve people in 13 districts from Tarsus to Çamlıyayla, from Mut to Anamur, Seçer said, “We have provided our services for 4 and a half years, loving and respecting everyone. “We will continue to do it,” he said. Emphasizing that one of the service units he has deemed most sensitive since the day he took office is the Fire Department, Seçer said, “Fire Department means; It means our life safety. Is there anything more important than one’s life? Fire Department; It is a branch that we can hold on to in the face of the negativities we experience. “In case of an accident, trouble, fire or any other negativity, we think of the fire department,” he said.
“We have made the necessary investments in our Fire Department in the light of science, logic and reason.”
Adding that he does not spare anything for tools, equipment and good human resources in the fire department, Seçer said, “In the meetings held about the fire department, our vision, perspective and decisions were to create the strongest fire department. The most modern vehicles, equipment, technological, up-to-date, best human resources, well-trained personnel, firefighters; We have always strived for this. As in all matters, we have made the necessary investments in our Fire Department in the light of science, logic and reason. “The unit we are currently in is one of them,” he said. Seçer noted that they follow the developments in the fire department every day and carry out studies to respond to disasters better and more effectively.

Emphasizing that Ata Education Center bears the name of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Seçer said, “The facility we are in; Our Atatürk, whom we follow and are proud and happy to follow; It bears the name of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. On the 100th anniversary of the Republic, this name suits this education center very well: Ata Education Center. This area is 8 thousand 400 square meters. We have a closed area of approximately 900 square meters. “Ata Training Center is one of the 10 best and most equipped firefighter training centers in Turkey,” he said.
Giving information about the stations in the center, Seçer said that they will provide training and exercise opportunities to different public institutions and organizations and private sector employees. Listing the topics of the training given, Seçer said, “Whatever you are looking for about the fire department, it is here. Whatever training you need, the station of that training area is available here. “We provide in-service training to 150 personnel every week,” he said.
“You cannot find anything suspicious in even one of the hired personnel.”
Seçer stated that the exams for personnel recruitment were extremely transparent and said, “We hired 100 personnel for our fire department. You cannot find anything suspicious about even one of them. All of them were written from highest to lowest according to KPSS results. Applications were invited for a certain number of exams. Here they were subjected to written and physical exams. We have young people here from all over Turkey. “They prepared for the exam with due diligence, effort and sweat, passed it and today they have the right to serve the people of Mersin in the Mersin Fire Department,” he said. Adding that they will recruit 50 more people, Seçer said, “We opened an exam and there were applications. There are 1300 applications. Again, scores will be written according to KPSS results. The 250 applicants with the highest scores will take a written exam on November 26 and a physical exam on November 27. We will announce the results on December 15. “We will recruit 50 of our children and young people as officers in our fire department,” he said.
“Wherever Mersin Fire Brigade was needed in Turkey, our fire brigade was there.”
Stating that they encountered many different disasters and catastrophes during the 4.5 years they were on duty, Seçer added that they rushed to help not only Mersin but also every region in Turkey that suffered a disaster and said, “Wherever Mersin Fire Department was needed in Turkey, our fire brigade was there. Our friends responded to the disasters there without sleeping for days, feeling the pain of our citizens who were exposed to the disaster and drawing energy from their love. I send my heartfelt love and thanks to all of them. Thank you to all of them for their efforts and hearts. They disregarded their lives and health and put them in danger. “They tried to restore order in the disaster area as soon as possible and ensure that our citizens leave the disaster with the least damage,” he said.

Stating that the election process is approaching and that they will give the public account of their 5-year services at the ballot box, Mayor Seçer said, “Our service region is Mersin. We are very comfortable, very peaceful, especially in conscience and in every respect. We came to office with the votes of the people of Mersin, their support and trust. They said; ‘We will support Vahap Seçer as president. We are sure that it will not harm the rights of the orphan who has no hair yet. ‘It will transfer public resources as a service to us in the most rational way.’ We fulfilled our duties with this understanding and responsibility during our tenure. We ran to every area. We stood by both the poor and the sick. We stood by students, children, women, animals and nature. “We built the roads, we built the infrastructure, we built the superstructure,” he said.

Stating that they provide training to their employees in order to create a more equipped staff and that they strive to work with more qualified staff, Seçer said, “Above all; We thought hard about the resources transferred to us and spent them in order not to harm that trust. Today, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality is one of the most powerful municipalities in Turkey. “It is a municipality that has ensured its financial discipline, knows what it is doing, has a reputation, and has the highest level of public satisfaction and satisfaction,” he said.
Underlining that he is a mayor who walks comfortably on the street, Seçer said, “When I go out on the street and receive the love, respect, smile, gratitude and prayers of my citizens, I become the happiest person in the world. What else can a politician who fights for his people expect? That’s what I want too. This has been the case until today. “It will be like this from now on,” he said. Stating that he did not ensure the satisfaction of the citizens alone, Seçer said, “While building the road and infrastructure, extinguishing a fire, responding to an accident, tending to the park and garden, bringing hot food to a poor person, caring for a patient, we did these together with you. If there is success, it belongs to all of us. We should all be proud of ourselves. “We should proudly stand in front of our children and spouses by saying ‘We deserve the position and the vote we have received,'” he said.
Underlining that the openings will continue unabated in the coming days, Mayor Seçer gave the good news that they will put many centers such as Babil Water Sports Center, Mathematics House, Autism House, Mezitli Retirement House at the service of Mersin residents. Seçer said, “We are those who follow in the footsteps of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the architect of modern Turkey. Education is important to us. “Congratulations to our Ata Education Center,” he said.
Seçer toured the center after the opening and received information about the center from the authorities. The parkour demonstrations performed by the fire brigade personnel took the audience’s breath away.
