President Prabowo Subianto met with leaders of Mexico, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia at an informal MIKTA gathering during the G20 Summit in Brazil on Monday. MIKTA is an informal partnership between these five countries.
During the meeting, Prabowo exchanged greetings with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, shouting “Viva Zapata!” in reference to the Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata, which Sheinbaum acknowledged with a smile.
Prabowo proposed hosting a high-level MIKTA meeting in Mexico City, a suggestion warmly accepted by Sheinbaum and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who confirmed the next MIKTA meeting would be held there.
The gathering, organized by Mexico as this year’s MIKTA chair, took place at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) in Rio de Janeiro. It began with brief greetings, followed by a group photo reflecting the solidarity among the MIKTA nations.
