IF Wedding Fashion Izmir, one of the largest fashion fairs in Europe, opened its doors for the 17th time with participants and visitors from all over the world. Stating that Izmir alone produces 70 percent of Turkey’s wedding dresses, Mayor Soyer said, “Our goal is to further expand our export volume by bringing together the companies producing in the sector with retailers, wholesalers and chain stores.” At the opening of the fair, the wedding dresses of young designers were exhibited and the winners were given awards.
IF Wedding Fashion Izmir – Wedding Dress, Groom Suit and Evening Wear Fair, held for the 17th time this year in Izmir, the capital of fashion and wedding dresses, opened its doors. The opening of the fair, which will host professional visitors with 11 participants from evening wear, wedding dresses, groom’s suits, accessories and children’s clothing product groups from 7 provinces of Turkey and 228 countries, is the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. Tunç Soyer and his wife Neptün Soyer, with the participation of district mayors, representatives of political parties, chambers and non-governmental organizations and fashion designers. The fair, organized by İZFAŞ in partnership with the Aegean Clothing Manufacturers Association, will continue until November 24.
Soyer: “Our goal is clear”
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor said that Turkey has become a pioneer in the wedding dress, groom’s suit and evening dress industry in recent years. Tunç Soyer, “Turkey rose to second place in exports after China, which leads the sector with its contract sewing volume. More importantly for us Izmir residents, 70 percent of the wedding dress production in Turkey takes place in our city. We are adding another brick to this successful table, which grows with each passing year, with the IF Wedding Fashion fair. Opening its doors for the 17th time, IF Wedding Fashion brings together local and foreign industry professionals from all over the world in Izmir this year. Our goal is clear. To bring together the companies producing in the sector with retailers, wholesalers and chain stores. “Thus, we can further expand our export volume,” he said.
“The heart of the industry will beat in Izmir”
The President said that they will realize the creative ideas of designers from Izmir and different cities of Turkey with the “Wedding Dress Design Competition”, which will be held for the 14th time with the fair. Young designers were rewarded
The Wedding Dress Design Competition, which was held for the 14th time this year along with the fair and enabled young designers to step into the sector, was held this year with the theme of “Flow”. There were exciting moments after the opening in the competition of 15 designers. Sercan, who came first in the competition, received the Scout award from the President.
Tunç SoyerHe took it from his hand. The second award was given to Aslıhan Yıldırım by Hayati Ertuğrul, Chairman of the Aegean Clothing Manufacturers Association. Ertuğrul said that the importance of design in the sector was emphasized with the competition. Third place Mehmet Melih Sevinç received his award from Izmir Chamber of Commerce Chairman Mahmut Özgener. Özgener said that the fair made a great contribution to the sector. Tunç Soyer and thanked İZFAŞ for their efforts.

2024 fashion on IF Wedding Fashion catwalks
2024 collections will be exhibited for the first time at the IF Wedding Fashion Izmir fair. 15 fashion shows will be held within the scope of the fair. Designers participating in the fair will exhibit their wedding dress, groom suit and evening dress collections in the area specially created for them.
The “Performance Fashion Show”, consisting of designs inspired by Narcissus, the mythological story of the Narcissus flower, prepared by Enes Yolcu, who won an award last year in the Wedding Dress Design Competition, which gives candidate designers the opportunity to exhibit their first fashion show in their professional lives, will be presented to fashion designers, participants and visitors.
