A man had crossed illegally into Greek territory, was spotted by the police of the Border Guard Department of Feres moving in a rural area of Evros, and was arrested – as it turned out, he was wanted for a murderous robbery he had committed in Turkey.
An International Arrest Warrant had been issued against the foreigner by the authorities of Turkey with charges for the crimes of intentional homicide, robbery and violation of weapons legislation, Proto Thema reported.
Thus, he was first referred to the Alexandroupolis First Instance Prosecutor, who prosecuted him for illegal entry into the country, and then to the Thrace Appeals Prosecutor, who initiated his extradition to the neighbouring country.
Fugitive smuggler handcuffed
In Florina region, a 56-year-old foreigner was arrested by the police against whom a decision of the Single-Member Misdemeanor Court of Giannitsa was pending, by which he had been sentenced to six months in prison for violating the legislation on smuggling.
The fugitive was taken to the criminal prosecutor of Florina.
