On Thursday, officials from China and Turkey promised to improve their partnership in the travel and tourism industry.
A tourism promotion meeting in the largest Turkish city of Istanbulwas held which saw the participation of Elif Balci Fisunoglu, vice general manager of the Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency and Wei Xiaodong, China’s Consul General in Istanbul, among others.
“China is one of our priority markets, and we look forward to working together to develop our existing relationship further,” Elif Balci Fisunoglu said.
According to Fisunoglu, there were over 426,000 Chinese tourists to Turkey in 2019. He also stated that Turkey hopes to attract 1 million Chinese tourists annually in the coming years.
“At this point, our active promotion, advertising, and marketing activities in the Chinese market will continue to increase,” Fisunoglu said.
Wei Xiaodong, the consul general of China in Istanbul, addressed the gathering and noted that China was one of the many nations, including other countries, that had been drawn to Turkey because of its ancient civilizations.
“We believe that more Chinese tourists will come to Turkey in the near future,” he said. “And they will experience the historical and cultural beauties of Turkey and the hospitality of the Turkish people.”
The Chinese representative emphasized the value of the enormous potential for growing China-Turkey cooperation in the travel and tourism industry.
“From now on, we will continue to work together with other organizations to ensure that Chinese tourists can travel safely, smoothly, and enjoyably in Turkey,” he added.
